The National September 11 Memorial & Museum and The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey today installed two historic Twin Tower ‚tridents? into their permanent location at the 9/11 Memorial Museum. 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni today announced the arrival and planting of the first trees on the Memorial Plaza at the World Trade Center site. Reflecting significant progress in the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site, Project Rebirth has produced “Rebirth Preview 2010” an update of the four minute piece that has been viewed by over 950,000 visitors at the 9/11 Memorial Preview Site in downtown Manhattan. Planned for public release in 2011, the Project Rebirth feature length documentary will chronicle the strength of the human spirit coping with disaster: the aftermath of September 11, 2001. “Rebirth Preview 2010” provides audiences an experience of the film, and a reflection of the spirit of the project, which honors 9/11 and the resilience of first responders and victims in the face of trauma and loss.

The States of New York and New Jersey, the City of New York, the Port Authority and Silverstein Properties announced today the outline of a development plan for the east side of the World Trade Center site. The plan calls for the immediate restoration of the east side of the WTC site to at least street level, the completion of Tower 4 by 2013 and the phase-in of Towers 2 and 3 over time. All other projects, including the 9/11 Memorial, One World Trade Center, the WTC Transportation Hub and other public infrastructure, will continue moving forward.  Read more...

On April 20, 2010, The Building Green Expo and Workshops returns to New York City and will take place at 7 World Trade Center. Building Green has added two new elements to this year's event: A Green Contest which is open to the public, and a children's educational component geared towards elementary students explaining what sustainability means and providing steps to help keep the world green.  Read more...

The World Trade Center arbitration panel ruled yesterday that, due to construction delays at the site and other issues, the Port Authority and Silverstein Properties must work together to create a new collaborative plan and schedule for the project and report back to the Panel in 45 days.  Read more...

On September 10, 2009, to kick off the first annual 9/11 National Day of Service and, the Tribute WTC Visitor Center, USO and MyGoodDeed.org will host Remembrance an afternoon of volunteering. Volunteers will work together to stuff 5,000 USO care packages that will be sent to our military forces. “The arbitration panel ruled that work must continue on World Trade Center sites 2 and 4 in order to complete the Port Authority’s site turnover obligations, and as a result the panel reinstated liquated damages effective to October 5. At a press conference at 7 World Trade Center, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum today provided a design briefing for the Memorial Museum Pavilion. The Museum Pavilion, designed by the Norwegian architecture firm, Snøhetta, and located between the two Memorial pools on the northeast quadrant of the Memorial Plaza, will be a graceful glass and steel structure that will serve as the primary entry into the Memorial Museum.  Read more...
